At four years old, Kyle Mckendrick picked up playing soccer and over the years his passion continued to grow stronger. As soccer is a big part in his British heritage, he has wholeheartedly dedicated his time to playing to the best of his abilities.

Soccer has been passed down throughout Kyle’s family. “It’s in my blood, my whole family has played [it]. I love the sport and I have so much passion,” said Mckendrick.

Last year, Kyle won MVP for South’s soccer team and made 1st team all-county for Broward and Dade, which is quite an achievement for an eighteen year old.

When he was younger, conflicts with soccer prevented his from venturing to try new sports. Mckendrick decided to give playing a couple more sports a shot, which has now made him a triple-threat: He started playing on South’s football team during his freshman year, has now been playing soccer for fourteen years, and has decided to join the boy’s lacrosse team upon entering his senior year.

Even when off the field, Mckendrick remains hyped about the games. He is usually found in the stands cheering on his friends and even former team mates to victory.

Playing sports has greatly influenced and improved his life. An advantage to being sporty is being “kept in shape and healthy, instead of just sitting at home afterschool.”

Mckendrick’s soccer playing will not be ending as his final season at South has come to an end. He has plans to continue playing throughout college and life. Mckendrick also has dreams of becoming a professional soccer star. “Going pro is my dream, so if I can go pro it would make my dream come true,” said Mckendrick.

Kyle’s ambition has brought him far in high school and will continue to guide him beyond.
